Keith Hastings came in to our school and did an assembly on a MIDI guitar. It had six strings and looked like an electric guitar.

If you plug this guitar into a computer and pick a sound for it, when you pluck a string it sounds like that sound. For example if you set it to sing like he did in the assembly it will sing the note that you play.

Keith Hastings brought in a very technical computer to use for the assembly and it had a program on it (which was musical of course!) and you plugged the guitar into it and it would do as above.

Keith Hastings also picked one volunteer for the assembly. I went up and he got me to play a few notes on the guitar and this African lady sang the notes! How cool is that! Overall I would give Keith Hastings assembly a whopping 10/10!

I thought that the music/IT show that Mr. Hastings did at our school was really good because he showed us how to make up our own music and sounds through an instrument called the MIDI guitar that is made up of six strings and doesn't have a sound hole. We were even able to click on an instrument that we wanted to hear on the laptop, for example drums, woodwind sounds or even singing!

Mr. Hastings demonstrated three pieces of music on the laptop that were really good but the third one was the best because of the sounds!!! He then chose a group of children to come to the front to make their own pieces of music which was really cool!! Afterwards, he copied the music onto a CD and we are going to have a chance to listen to it soon which we can't wait for!! If I had to judge the music and everything involved I would give it 20/10!!!!!!!
