Keith Hastings gave a great demo to our boys at Ridgeway. He showed us just how easy it is to create professional sounding pieces using a few simple repeating loops on a laptop. He amazed us with some great effects – we never knew you get a guitar to sound like a real piano – and best of all, the boys were able to select ideas to make a composition of their own. This a really good way to introduce pupils to today’s music technology. Not only are they excited by the sheer wizardry of the equipment, but they are challenged to take up an instrument for themselves, knowing that to produce effects of this quality, some basic musical skills are necessary! I heartily recommend this to your school.
Chris Rowan, Head of music at Ridgeway School, Maidenhead, Berks.
“Keith Hastings' presentation incorporating the electronic technology available to musicians today is a clever combination of a master class and great fun for everyone. Our pupils (and adults) loved the whole event, which was visual, creative and informative. The children were very engrossed throughout the whole performance and responded to all the different sounds and rhythms that Keith demonstrated with skill and invention. The CD was a great success and featured at the end of term disco!”
Paul Grandidge, Head of Juniper Hill School, Flackwell Heath, Bucks.
“I am pleased to recommend the music/I.T. demonstration offered by Keith Hastings. Keith’s demonstration to the whole school of the use of the computer to create a musical backing track kept 320 pupils interested and attentive. Keith’s personal enthusiasm for, and expertise in, this modern approach to creating music captivated the children. The second session fully engaged the Year 6 pupils and resulted in a composition that can only be described as unique but it provided a tremendous amount of enjoyment and satisfaction to all involved.”
Peter Jaques, Head of Furze Platt Junior School, Maidenhead, Berks.
“White Waltham CE School was delighted with the recent visit from Keith Hastings. He demonstrated the latest technology by mixing music and IT. By enabling the pupils to create their own CD track they felt like real inspirational compass, they were enthused as were the staff throughout the session. There was a buzz of excitement as the children got to work mixing melody, harmony and rhythm to form a complex track. It certainly linked in with our aim at the White Waltham to enable creativity within the children and move into the 21st Century.”
